Is Fair going to happen?
I answered a call the other day with this very question. I facetiously answered I did not have the Governor’s Crystal Ball…Needless to say, the person on the other end of the phone was not impressed.
We are moving forward with planning as if this is a normal Fair year. I feel confident we will have something. A Livestock show and sale is going to happen for sure. Exhibitor buildings with entries should happen as well. Food will happen as well.
We plan on mailing out camping pre-registration on February 17th for those that had reservations in 2019. Please, if you aren’t using the site anymore, don’t pass it to a friend because they could potentially lose it and their money. Turn it in and let another family have an opportunity to camp. Parking and any remaining campsites will go on sale, online-only, on May 28th. Online exhibitor registration will open on June 1.
At this point, we are planning on a normal fair. We are working through Entertainment options and soliciting food booth vendors as well as commercial vendors. But we also realize our plans need to be somewhat fluid. I wish I could say that everything will return to the Fair that we had in 2019 but that would be overly optimistic. We will see some changes as a result of the pandemic. Changes such as more space between booths, fewer interactive entertainers (To limit crowd engagement), Masks and Hand Sanitizer will be abundant and building occupancies may be limited.
To offset some of our interactive entertainment we may bring in more music. We are working closely with the Carnival (Davis Shows) to assure we can conform to whatever safety measures will be asked of us. We do have some great entertainment already lined up and more on the way.
I’m sorry we don’t have all the answers but know we are doing our best to bring you as close to a normal fair as possible. You have an amazing facility here, at the Fairgrounds, as residents of Grant County and know that myself and the Staff work hard as the caretakers of your facility.
